Strangely enough, even in those nasty downmarket places some think only supply crap, it is possible to buy UK seasonal produce... I have a very good local farm shop that supplies a wide range of different fruit and vegetables. It's only ever seasonal stuff , and it's usually half the price of the equivalent in Tesco's, never mind Waitrose. d. The farm shops I come across round here can be more expensive to buy from than A. N. Supermarket, for the same stuff that is supplied to the supermarket. Mind you, I do buy from farm shops if the stuff is nice. Maybe a whole penny at most. The rest of it goes towards the costs of air freight, packaging the beans and irradiating them so they aren't all furry by the time they reach the shelves of your local shed, plus a large chunk to line the company's pockets.
